Looks like you missed to check it before you went thru hospital. It is always advisable to apply Birth Certificate thru Hospital and apply SSN yourself at the SSN office.. This way you will get your SSN within 2 weeks of you applying SSN. Many times hospital staffs explain this unfortunately you did not get this msg.. You can call SSN office and see if you can get SSN over phone.

Thanks for your responses. The hospital staff told us it would take 60-90 days to get the SSN. I am stuck until that arrives because only then can I apply for the passport. Any way to get around it?

The best course is file I-140 for EB3... after you get it... file for EB2 I-140 and use PD from EB3... It's possible and worth every effort.

This is absolutely no-sense at all.
Texas, take about 2-3 months to approve 140 and 485. While Nebraska take about 4-5 months to approve only 140. This is not included 485 that back up from December 2, 2005.
You compare about 2-3 month processing time from one Center and another 1 year from another service center.
People there don't know how to do the mathematic or what, why keep sending everything to Nebraska still. Why don't transfer from the last person in Nebraska to Texas and have Texas start processing 485 in Queued.
We don't want people get process by Luck! or by paying more money and left other people behind.
What you think?!

Is there any way IV can take up the NSC I140 processing times with USCIS???
Why is there a huge discrepancy between TSC and NSC wrt I140
Also the processing times NSC publsihes are not right.

I don't know how you can generalize like that. Sure that I was also burnt by a Desi company. But that is no excuse to say that All Desi company's are like that. I am sure this topic is very well discussed in some other thread. I am posting this as I am surprised not to see somebody jumping in against such generalizations.
So make it a promise to yourself that if you ever start a company you will not screw up anybody (desi or otherwise)
From my experience, Crows are black everywhere. Unless you join non-desi company. it is hard to find desi company who keeps everything in black n white.
Best bet is to try to workout something with you present company.

hi All,
I am on AP/EAD and need to Transit thru Paris in February. I have a confirmed return ticket and my visas have expired. I am currently in India.I called VFS and they told me that I do not need a transit visa however when I emailed them they responded by saying check with your Airline. I am trying to email the consulate in Mumbai but keep getting bounce backs.
However I found links on the Atlanta and Washigton consulates that say that I need a visa.

Last time there was a recession (2001/2002), INS denied a lot of employment based immigrant petitions because they asked companies why they could not hire American programmers who were laid off. This happened people I personally know from reputed companies such as Sun Microsystems. I don't mean to sound negative, but do you think this will happen again? After being in the queue for so many years, the possibility is real.
They can't deny anyone who has filed I-485 because you have already crossed labor + I-140. Yes, they will ask for latest financial report for ability of pay etc. I do know that lot of company stopped processing of GC during that time.
Why the hell they don't stop H1bs rather than targetting people who already filed GC.

Yes - this job description can claim for EB2.
Make sure you keep ready your educational evaluation which proves that your education is equal to American M.S/M.B.A and your entire experience letters which say you worked for 5+ years for described job duties in case of RFE (You can't claim experience earned with the empolyer which is filing your PERM.)

find another job..and restart ur GC..
apply for perm...by the time it gets approved..u may be eligible for 140 premiuim..as per the new rule...
but there is a catch...your labor shoudl be in process for atleast a year..for you to apply for H1 extension....hmmm...Gurus on this board may shed some light on it...

You made a good point...US media highlights issues based on what it likes and presents it to the people the way they want it to be. US hates 'Ahmedinejad' so they are highighting the opponents..as if the opponent would have been any different for the US..US Media standards reached a new low with their double-standards in covering the Iranian election protests. Looks like US media wants to manipulate their citizens with one-sided information and only those news that media DECIDES are in the interest of the people.

Sam is rite, Leave it blank , USCIS will check the system and fill it. I have seen few cases in this forum where applicant wrote a A# and when they received the receipt it was different, SO leave blank there is no harm.
Even my attorney left it blank even though I have my I-140 approved before filing my I-485

I am also thinking to either file EB2-PERM or convert my current EB3-ROW Regular LC PD-04/2002 to PERM.
