I wished this was known sooner. Upgrading my phone (3gs) to 4.3.1 ... itunes crashed in the middle and during the restore, the application reload didn't work right; the apps were not put into their respective folders so I had 11 pages of icons :D. And I just upgraded my jb'ed ipad to 4.3.1 yesterday and that didn't go smoothly; redsn0w didn't upgrade to 4.3.1 and I had to resort to the other app (sn0wbridge? or something). At least itunes didn't crash on me that time but it took a long time.

Perhaps I missed part of the new Google search feature in the new version of Safari, but isn't there an already-existing (and awesomely functioning :) ) Google searchbar in there? I'm still using Panther with Safari v1.3.2!

I wonder if Serlett's departure means more web focus since the new guy focused on the cloud? A new filesystem, being able to run web apps outside the browser, and a new UI would be nice for OSX an internet layer built in using webkit (if that is possible) would be 3 nice new features, and with the new guy Ferengi or Fedenrigh or whatever it could be possible?
Craig was the main man behind Enterprise Object Frameworks 2.0 at NeXT. The Cloud has nothing to do with this succession. Craig is just the perfect person to take Bertrand's position. Bertrand will be missed and they couldn't have given the role to a more deserving person.

Politicians, of all people, should know when it's NOT ok to speak your mind, especially if you're having such bastard thoughts.
One thing's for sure though, Kathleen Passidomo can dress as promiscuously as she wants, but she ain't getting any.

I don't care for Kobe but when your body is producing adrenaline and endorphins your behavior changes. Very common in basketball and football
to hear every possible slur imaginable.
Exactly!
Heck I have said some crap to good friends of mine on the ice and they have said some crap to me. Even at my level of play there's emotion that sometimes gets the better of us.

On a side note, I wonder whether Apple violates competition rules. When I remember correctly, the iPad had a considerable market share on the tablet market. One could argue that Apple abuses its market position to impose their own (unfair) conditions on publishers.
They don't compete with publishers, and the "tablet market" is not probably too narrow a definition of a "market" (more likely, anti-trust authorities would be interested in the overall "pc" market or the "mobile" market.)

Sweet. But, there's more to just piggybacking on your mac's airport connection to make calls. I think more has to be done to make this networking possible.
There are already wi-fi enabled phones that can make Skype calls if you have a wi-fi connection. This is nothing new or groundbreaking.
Well this certainly beats that ipod integration nonsense. MP3 player phones are a dime a dozen, I'd rather see great communication device that take how the user communicates to the next level, not just stuff a music player in it.
MP3 player phones are a dime a dozen and also *hugely* popular. Look at how well the LG Chocolate is doing with their craptacular phone. The iPhone *must* have iPod integration to be a success, IMO. At minimum it must have seamless iPod integration and a decent-to-good phone experience. Everything else is gravy.
Many manufacturers already do this with their unlocked phones - but they just store the settings on the phones (no need to connect to a computer).
Manufacturers selling unlocked phones is common elsewhere and is now already beginning in the States.
This won't fly - usage is terrible and would make dialing slower than it currently is. And texting would truly suck.
In fact, Sony launched their w800i phone unlocked in the U.S. (was only availalbe from the Sony Style store). The thing is, at $500 it was extremely cost-prohibitive and definitely aimed at technology early adopters. I'm sorry, but phones are just too darn expensive at full retail price. Apple *needs* the subsidy for signing a new contract. That's the only thing that will make the price competitive for the mass market. I expect Apple will partner with T-Mobile and/or Cingular, and that the phone will be available for no more than $300 with new contract (and even that is expensive by today's standards).
Do you mean latency? evdo gives up to 3mbps in urban areas. That should be plenty.
EV-DO is not available on GSM networks in the US. As far as I know the GSM providers (basically T-Mobile and Cingular) are using HSDPA for their 3G network. And everything I've heard about it has been good. The early reports on the Cingular 3G network are that it's quite zippy and handles streaming video just fine...
I also like the idea of using the click wheel to make a retro style digital-rotary phone. However, I doubt Apple would just display the numbers on the screen and not on the unit. So when in dial mode, you would spin the click wheel and the numbers, displayed on the display in a circle, would highlight the number that you were on and then click the center button on the click wheel to select. If you wanted to get really old school, you could have the rotary sounds come through the headphones. Or course you would still be able to dial by your address book or search through a downloaded version of the white or yellow pages (which would naturally sync into your phone whenever you charge it at home, via blue tooth or direct connection to your computer).
Text messaging is extremely popular and I just don't see Apple crippling text messaging on the iPhone. Can you see inputting a 120-character text message on a "rotary-style" interface? Yeah, I can't either. Any kind of rotary interface on the iPhone is a non-starter idea, IMO.
P.S. The title of this thread is: "iChat Phone from Apple?". Kind of implies that there must be as simple, fast way to input text, right? I'm thinking a full qwerty keyboard is a definite possibility...

I did, in fact, mean using JavaScript on page load to disable the user from changing the size of the textarea, not within my browser. It's like using CSS to disable the dotted border Firefox puts around links when they are active.
Form elements, and the divs that contain them, often need either fixed widths or have widths that are proportional to their containers.
Take Google (http://www.google.com). Depending on how the layout is set up (this is just hypothetical), resizing the search box would push those three links next to it off into oblivion if they were all in a div that was fixed or proportional to the page width. It doesn't matter if Safari "dynamically redraws the page" since the div would still be calculated to be the same. Worse yet, depending on its overflow attribute, they could be pushed onto a new line.
I'd really not like to see Safari become the next IE 5. It already has its share of JavaScript bugs. This would just mean us designers would have to spend that much more time envisioning what would happen if a user resized every form element on every page and incorporating it into our layouts. This is why I hope there's a way to disable it outright.
I hope you remember the user CSS take precedence, the user can choose a minimum font size and run an extension like nonscript to firefox so by default
no javascript would run.
The Web is based in that is the reader the one that decide how a page would look if you do not like that begin to design magazines or book.
Note: the noscript funcinality is something I would like to see added to safari.

Android will be on more things by the end of the year. iOS is restricted to apple products. But we are already seeing the creativity that people are using android for. Being that it is open source and easy to modify and write on we have many things. Android now powers eReaders, TVs, Video games, and even a microwave
I would add FORTUNATELY iOS is restricted to Apple products ...
Android open source ? Yes, yes, you can bet on it :D

Drop him now, and quit whoring yourself. He will continue to abuse you for pennies because that's how he flies, and you're letting him.
Check around at what other degreed or professional designers charge.
You are too low by a factor of a number I might run out of zeroes writing down.
I am brutally honest because i was there.
Har har! Yes, I agree here, except for where you say, "you are too low by a factor of..." Have a look at the OP's cover designs, *very* early in visual maturity. I think he's right to be billing where he's at, but you are right that he should drop a mean client. At this level, you can find a lot of people to do work for, and can pick the nice ones.

Look everyone, another Applogist.
My battery live is much worse since the recent upgrade. Around 25% less battery life. No jailbreak here.
It might be Apple trying to screw us up and make us want to upgrade to iphone 5. I remember I had the iphone 3G and with its latest "upgrade" my phone took a shiat bigtime. There wasnt even a way to downgrade the upgrade.

I purchased this app "again"... and...
- SimplyTweet have more features then Tweetie 2.
- Pay for each updates.
- Not much has changed from the previous one.
- Still no push notification.
- Only fancy design nothing new and exiting.
You don't pay for updates, Tweetie 1 had 7 free updates. Updates within the 2.0 version number will also be free. Same as EVERY piece of software for the desktop.

Samsung has an image problem, and even that has only improved in the last few years.
You may think so, but it's not what you think it is. I travel globally and Samsung is very well thought of in the many countries I do business with.
In addition they are not easily replaced as a component supplier. Apple benefits from their quality, high volume capacity, and very good pricing.
I'm not married to either, but I am intimately knowledgeable of their respective operations. They have a mutually beneficial relationship. It would hurt Apple to lose them.
Apples not stupid, just posturing for mind share. Its an American cultural thing. Samsung understands that, thus they are slashing back. Apples working hard to spin this so they look like the victim.
It's what Apple the finger pointer does "you're holding it wrong". Another version "they all do that"
No big deal they've got to blame someone, anyone.
